Our Mission

The mission of the Brunei Youth Symphony (BYS) is to make orchestral music accessible to young people in Brunei, while nurturing musical excellence, collaboration, and personal development.

BYS provides a structured environment where young musicians can experience ensemble playing, develop technical and artistic skills, and gain confidence through regular rehearsals and public performances. The orchestra welcomes musicians at different stages of development, fostering a culture of learning, mentorship, and mutual support rather than exclusivity.

Through local and international partnerships, BYS connects its members to broader musical perspectives and professional standards. Exposure to experienced mentors and collaborative opportunities encourages musicians to grow beyond individual achievement and understand the value of collective artistry.

As a non-profit organization, BYS is committed to serving both its members and the wider community. Support from sponsors, partners, and audiences allows the orchestra to sustain its programmes while keeping participation focused on opportunity and growth. Beyond performance, BYS aims to inspire appreciation for orchestral music and contribute to Brunei’s cultural future in a meaningful and lasting way.
